Emart is a large chain of stores across Korea, but during dinner time hours of 12 and 1pm sales decrease. To combat this they created a QR code that could only be scanned during that hour – using the shadow from the sun. Scanning the code during that hour sent user to the Sunny Sale site that allowed them to shop via their phone to get things ordered to their house. Very simple, and I bet the actual QR code thing wasn’t expensive to build, my only thing is that wasn’t the goal to get them into stores too during the hour? Maybe not! But I’d have liked an in store voucher to be available too I think.
